North Carolina Appeals Attorney
Pursuing Justice in Wrongful Convictions
While the criminal justice system is continuously evolving, it is not foolproof, nor is it free from human error or intentional misrepresentation. When you stand before the judge and hear your guilty verdict, not only is it terrifying, but your whole world can come crashing down before the blink of an eye. There is nothing more devastating that having a judge tell you that you're guilty. If you were convicted of a crime, Appeals Law Group wants you to know that this is not the end!
Unfortunately, too many people mistakenly believe that there is no hope after being convicted and this misconception stops them in their tracks from pursuing further legal action. In our legal system, you do have options and our North Carolina appeals lawyers can guide you on your legal journey and show you how to continue fighting for justice and your innocence!
We File Appeals in North Carolina & Many Other States
We handle cases in North Carolina and several states throughout the country. In the past 12 years alone, we have handled approximately 3,000 cases and our goal is to utilize this experience to your advantage!
We are admitted to practice in 20 different bars nationwide, including:
- United States Supreme Court
- New York
- New Jersey
- North Carolina
- New Jersey
- District of Columbia
You've been convicted. Now what?
If you're dissatisfied with your conviction or the results of your trial, you have the right to ask a higher court to reverse the decision of the trial court. Once the lower court has entered the judgment into the record, your appeals attorney will file a notice of an appeal. With appeals, new evidence is not admitted because such cases are based strictly on legal arguments. If either side wishes to argue the case before the appeals court, the outcome may include any of the following:
- The original ruling may be sustained
- The ruling will be reversed
- The ruling will be sent back to trial court
- It may be reversed or confirmed in part
Appeals Law Group practices in all military courts and in all 13 of the federal circuits. Our appellate attorneys will discuss your case in detail and explain the appeals process. Upon review of your case, we will point out why the court's decision may be unfair or why it may have involved errors. While we focus on all levels of misdemeanor and felony criminal cases, we handle all types of appeals, including:
- Family Law
- Juvenile Cases
- Tort, Contract, and Real Property Law
- Civil Cases
- Revenue and Tax Issues
- Administrative Agency Decisions
